Who are you?
My name is Nicolas Zenker, and I am 24 years old.
Short word on your time in Belgium?
I did a GAP year in Leuven, Belgium from September 2012 to June 2013. I lived in household with Raphaël Luyts, Simon Luyts and Tony Vanderstuyft. Sam Geleyn and Paul Jordan were my GAP leaders / mentors during my time there. I worked with Pharos on a daily managing communications, planning events, and doing outreach.
What is the best memory of your gap-year?
My best memories are all of the retreats that we had the opportunity to participate in throughout the year. Whether in Leuven, London, Poland or Ireland, it was always incredible getting to meet and build friendships with believers from other countries and getting to praise God with them.
A little word on your life right now?
I attended the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, USA, where I recieved my B.S. in Neuroscience & Behavior in May 2018. I then went back and got a one-year master’s degree in Entrepreneurship. I graduated from that program in May of 2019, after which I moved to San Francisco, CA, where I am currently living. I am now working with a small technology startup in Silicon Valley. I am currently single and focused on building a life in this new city.
Do you have a message for the people of Jerusalem?
I want to thank you all for hosting me in your community for a year. It was incredibly generous of you, and I will never forget it. I also want to thank you for all of the prayers you have showered on me throughout the years – I appreciate them so much and I am sure they have had a real, positive impact on my life. I’d love to come back and visit sometime if that would be alright!
What can we pray for?
Please pray for me for wisdom, that I might know God’s plan for me, and what is right on a day-to-day basis. And also that God will give me the strength to follow His plan for me and to make the right decisions.
